Accounting for electricians
This is not a replacement for your accountant. It is the part that feeds them: the invoices, the expenses and the receipts, kept tidy as you go instead of in a carrier bag in the van. SparkCerts handles the day-to-day money side of an electrical business so the year-end is just a download.
Money in
- Proper UK invoices with VAT, your bank details and payment terms
- Pay-online links by card, and overdue invoices chased by text automatically
- Built from the quote, so nothing is retyped
Money out
- Snap a receipt on site, with supplier, category and VAT
- Materials and expenses tracked against the job
- Profit per job, and a money in, money out, profit figure for the month
Year-end is a download
One click exports your invoices and expenses as CSV, ready for your accountant or to import into Xero or QuickBooks. No copying figures off paper, no reconciling three apps. The records you make running the jobs are the records the books need, which is the whole point of doing the money in the same place as the work. See the full feature list or the contractor software overview.
Common questions
Does SparkCerts replace my accountant?
No. It feeds them: invoices with VAT, expenses and receipts kept tidy as you go, then a one-click CSV export for your accountant, Xero or QuickBooks at year end.
Can I track profit per job?
Yes. Each job record carries the quote, materials, expenses and the invoice, so the margin on every job is visible without a spreadsheet.
What does the accounting side cost?
It is included in SparkCerts: three jobs free, then 12 pounds a month for everything, with no per-user fee.
